Supporting the Black community through organizations is about trust, representation, commitment, and listening.” – Nikki Green, Achieva Insurance Agency
In celebrating Black History Month, Achieva Credit Union reflects on the important contributions of Black Americans. We reaffirm our dedication to serving every member of our community with dignity, respect, and support. This month provides an opportunity to honor the past, but also examine how we can continue to build trust and foster opportunity within our community.
At Achieva, meaningful support requires more than outreach; it requires a long-term presence. To support this belief, we opened the floor for discussion amongst Achieva employees. One submission was from Nikki Green, Sales Director of Achieva Insurance Agency. She states, “Supporting the Black community through organizations is about trust, representation, commitment, and listening.” This philosophy guides our engagement and shapes the services we provide as a whole at Achieva during Black History Month and beyond.
Building Financial Stability Through Education
Achieva provides free financial education to everyone in the community to promote financial stability through our free virtual Cash Classes. We cover essential categories such as Personal Finances, Homebuying, Insurance, and more. These virtual sessions empower individuals with the knowledge they need to make informed financial decisions to protect their hard-earned money. Anyone can view and register for upcoming Achieva Cash Classes at www.achievacu.com/events.
For those seeking more personalized guidance, Achieva offers free, one-on-one consultations with our Certified Financial Counselors. These professionals work closely with members to develop realistic budgets and create actionable plans for achieving long-term financial goals. This individualized approach ensures that each member receives the specific support they need to increase savings, pay off debt, and start on the road to a more secure financial future.
Healthcare and Insurance Challenges
We recognize that historical inequities have created deep-seated distrust in healthcare systems within many communities. From Achieva Insurance Agency’s perspective, addressing this challenge requires transparency, education, and accessible guidance. Our insurance team reviews members’ Medicare plans and provides personalized service, helping them understand their options. This helps to identify ways to reduce out-of-pocket costs.
Nikki Green emphasizes the importance of “bringing Medicare education directly in this cultural space.” By meeting people where they are and providing Medicare guidance, Achieva Insurance Agency strives to increase accessibility and combat misinformation. Our goal is to ensure that every community member can access the benefits they deserve without confusion or barriers.
Innovative Financial Products for Community Growth
Achieva’s commitment to community empowerment extends to our specialized financial products designed to build stability and opportunity. Our Community Partner Accounts offer perks and incentives that go above and beyond standard banking products. These all-inclusive bank accounts are tailored for seniors, educators, first responders, health care workers, community employees, and Veterans in our community, regardless of cultural background.
Our mortgage financing programs remove the traditional barriers to homeownership, as Achieva proudly serves as an Equal Opportunity Lender. Members can apply for a home loan with no money down to leverage 100% mortgage financing. There are also a wide variety of mortgage options to obtain their dream home.
Investing Directly in Community Organizations
Our support for local communities is both substantial and measurable. In 2024, Achieva proudly sponsored 92 community events throughout our entire member area, contributing $113,000 to local organizations. These partnerships span youth sports teams, churches, senior centers, and numerous other community groups.
As we assess our 2025 activities, we’re excited about our continued and increased contribution to local organizations that make a difference in people’s lives.
Looking Forward with Purpose
This Black History Month, Achieva recommits to the values of trust, representation, and genuine community partnership that Nikki Green articulates so well. We understand that building lasting relationships within our communities requires consistent action, transparent communication, and services that truly meet people’s needs.
We combine financial education, accessible insurance guidance, innovative banking products, and direct community investment. Achieva continues working toward a future where community members have the tools and support they need to achieve financial stability.
